Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the purposes for which it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Fond du Lac County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location submitted through a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be retained long enough to answer and manage the message. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, standard server and analytics systems can collect technical details about the visit:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • Referring site, when available
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show how visitors move through the site, including which pages draw traffic and where sessions end. Analytics services combine those usage patterns. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how parts of the site work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing a submitted search to the selected partner
  • Maintaining site availability and page speed
  • Finding and repairing technical problems
  • Assessing which pages are useful or need improvement
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Fond du Lac County guidance points readers to the sheriff, local police, the circuit court, Wisconsin DOJ CIB, and the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. Wisconsin DOJ dissemination functions arise under Wis. Stat. § 165.83, but this private site does not hold that government repository. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into a consumer report about another person.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information entered there is governed by the chosen partner's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner controls its retention and sharing rules, so review those terms before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Fond du Lac County government, court portals, Wisconsin agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across sites for targeted ads. We do not operate that tracking infrastructure.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a query you submit
  • Advertising networks serving content on a page
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If such information comes to our attention, we will take steps to delete it.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary with a visitor's place of residence. Wisconsin's Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31 to 19.39, concerns government records and does not turn this private site into a public record custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:

  • Request access to personal data we retain about that visitor
  • Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
  • Request deletion where the law permits it
  • Object to certain processing where a right applies

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. Any revision will appear here with a new effective date, so the current page controls future visits.

Effective date: August 11, 2026
